Take to the Skies

There is no better time to enjoy in Reno than in the fall. The temperate weather, vibrant changing leaves and crisp air are the perfect complement to some of the famous area events. Remember to look up this month, because there is a lot to see in our beautiful Nevada skies.

Ballon Races

The Great Reno Balloon Race is FREE to spectators thanks to the generous support of event sponsors. It is always scheduled for the first Friday through Sunday after Labor Day. Following the Great Reno Balloon Race, is the Reno Championship Air Races.

Air Races

Held every September just north of Reno, the National Championship Air Races have become an institution for northern Nevada and aviation enthusiasts from around the world. For one week, the high desert north of Reno becomes home to hundreds of aircraft, their pilots and crews. In the past ten years, the event has attracted more than 150,000 spectators and generated more than $60 million a year for the region’s economy. The event features six racing classes, a large display of static aircraft and several military and civil flight demonstrations.

So however you choose to spend the season, be sure to look toward the sky!

Firestation 12 Grand Opening

New Fire Station to Open in Reno

Accompanied by Events to Celebrate the Opening

April 2, 2014 (Reno, NV) — The Damonte Ranch Fire Station 12 is a new fire station set to open in South Reno. The Grand Opening dedication and commissioning will be held Friday, April 4 starting at 11 a.m. with an Open House Event Saturday, April 5 starting at 9 a.m. at their new location 1190 Steamboat Parkway in Reno.

The Grand Opening is an invite-only celebration. There will be dignitaries and City of Reno representatives including Mayor Bob Cashell, Reno Fire Chief Michael Hernandez, Reno City Manager Andrew Clinger, and more on hand for the commissioning and dedication of the new Fire Station 12. Attendees will also get to enjoy a presentation of the colors by the Reno Fire Department Honor Guard and the National Anthem performed by the Damonte Ranch High School Band. Festivities will get underway at 11:30 a.m. with lunch provided by Pinocchio’s. Parking is available at the fire station.

Perry Di Loreto’s company, Nevada Tri Partners, donated land for the new fire station and was responsible for the design and construction of Fire Station 12. “It’s a sincere pleasure to support an event that welcomes the Damonte Ranch neighborhood and the greater Reno community to come out and experience the new station,” Di Loreto says.

The Open House Event will be a community celebration open to the public the following day with a pancake breakfast provided by Damonte Ranch. Attendees will be able to get their photo taken with a fire truck and a smoke detector will be given away. Kids can also enjoy balloons, coloring books and fire hats to celebrate the opening.
